Our Principles
You are responsible for what you post
Each member of our community is accountable for their own contributions. Before posting, consider how your content might affect others and whether it aligns with our community values.
Free expression matters
We value the free exchange of ideas and perspectives. Peer is designed to be a platform where diverse voices can engage in meaningful conversation without algorithmic manipulation.
Privacy is paramount
Respect for privacy is foundational to our platform. We protect your data, and we expect community members to respect each other's privacy as well.
Community Standards
No adult content
Please refrain from posting explicit sexual content, nudity, or pornography. We aim to maintain a space that's comfortable for all community members.
No doxxing
Sharing private or personal information about another person without their consent ("doxxing") is strictly prohibited. This includes:
- Home addresses
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
- Private social media accounts
- Financial information
- Any other personal identifying information
No hate speech
We do not tolerate content that promotes, encourages, or incites hatred against individuals or groups based on attributes such as:
- Race or ethnicity
- Religious beliefs
- Gender or gender identity
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
- Nationality
Content Ownership & Copyright
When sharing content on Peer, please adhere to the following principles:
- Original Content: You retain ownership of the original content you create and share on Peer
- Proper Attribution: Always credit the original creator when sharing others' work
- Copyright Respect: Do not post content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights
- Limited License: By posting content, you grant Peer a non-exclusive license to display that content on the platform
- Removal Rights: You may delete your content at any time, which will remove it from the platform
- Fair Use: Respect fair use principles when sharing excerpts of copyrighted material
- Reporting Infringement: If you believe your copyrighted work has been improperly shared, contact us to report the violation
Additional Guidelines
- Be respectful: Disagree with ideas, not people
- No spam: Avoid repetitive, unwanted, or irrelevant content
- No impersonation: Don't pretend to be someone you're not
- No harassment: Do not engage in targeted abuse or bullying
- No illegal content: Don't share content that violates applicable laws
Enforcement
We believe in transparency in our moderation practices. When content violates these guidelines:
- First violation: Warning and content removal
- Repeated violations: Temporary suspension
- Severe or persistent violations: Account termination
You'll always be notified about actions taken on your content and given the opportunity to appeal decisions you believe were made in error.
